Melanie & Tyler Brown

I finished!  Over the summer I made a valiant effort to finish the rest of my classes.  I had to do two classes online and one on campus. But I finished!  So in August I was able to walk and shortly after I received an awesome piece of paper stating I am a college graduate.  So I have  degree from Brigham Young University in Psychology.  I might not be able to do much with it, but it is a degree and one day I will be able to go on and get a Master’s degree.  For now I just feel good that I was able to finish my undergraduate degree before my baby would come.

For the past 6 months or so I have worked back at the Riverwoods branch in the call center.  It has been fun and different talking to members on the phone versus face to face, but that is about to change.  I used to drive into work with my dad when I lived in at their house, then when we got into our house I had to drive alone again.  It is a 25 min. drive which is not always fun. 

So, the good news is…. I don’t have to drive so far to work.  I am going to to be a Member Service/ Loan Officer at the American Fork Branch.  I am really excited to be able to do loans and work with members face to face again.  And it will just be in the mornings, so my goal of finishing school by August is still working.  So we won’t have to fill up my car every week, but I did get 32 miles to the gallon this last time which was pretty awesome.  But it will put my drive to about 10 mins.  Yay!

Our house in Saratoga (by the high school) is cruising by.  This week we will be having a “walk-through” with the builder to make sure everything is done the way we want it before they start the finish work.  Finish work is everything including the sheetrock and after.  We really are surprised at the progress every time we go back. Enjoy!

It is just crazy how fast this is going up.  Our house has exterior walls, a basement, a garage floor, and a regular floor.  We are pretty excited!  At this rate I think we are going to be in our house in about two months!  So if you want to come to our paint party… just let me know.  We are painting the walls something other than white.  It will be pretty exciting.   We are welcoming all the help we can get.

As many of you know, I get headaches really bad, pretty much all the time. I have done anything and everything to stop them. People ask, do you grind your teeth, do you get enough sleep, do you get enough water, etc… I cannot link my headaches to anything and don’t worry, I have had an MRI and nothing. So that is good right! Anyhow, So a little while ago I went to the doctor and she gave me a great recommendation. She is going to have me take Vitamin D and Vitamin E. I guess they help open different receptors. I agreed to go ahead and start taking them. Why not right, If I don’t have to be dependent on pain medications I will try it! So wish me luck as I begin to take 2000 I.U. of Vitamin D and 800 I.U. of vitamin E daily!

Oh, PS if anyone has good sugguestions for other ways to get rid of headaches I am always open.

So A few weeks ago the manager at riverwoods called me into his office. He said I have good news and bad news. I assumed it was going to be about Riverwoods’ broken coin machine… Well I was wrong. Thinking that the bad news wouldn’t be so bad, I asked for that first. Well that wasn’t smart. He told me I was going to be transferred to the Pleasant Grove office. I was shoked and really upset for a while. After a week or so, I was alright with the change. So this post may be kind of dumb, but I just wanted to let everyone at the Riverwoods office know that I loved working with them. I worked with some awesome people and I will miss seeing them almost everyday. On the bright side, I drive about 5 mins to work… That is pretty awesome. Oh and so far in my first week here, I have enjoyed all the employees at Pleasant Grove. It will be a fun change for a while.

Alright so last friday I decided it was time that I had the rest of my wisdom teeth taken out.  I had two taken out in a study a while ago, but I still had two left.  Well I was terrified.  I don’t know if any of you know much about my strange phobia, but I have a terrible phobia of needles and obviously they need to use needles at some point in the process of getting my teeth pulled.   I went to the dentist and i dragged Tyler along because I did not want to do it alone.  We sat and chatted with the dentist for a while and then he said alright let’s walk you back to the operating room, I looked over at Tyler wide eyed.  He asked if he could come back and hold my hand while they did the shots and they said no!  I then was even more scared and upset than before.  Eek!  Well anyhow, I went back and made it thought it…. and I would have to say the worst part of it was the shots.  Oh but what was funny was they gave me a little bit of laughing gas and I had to tell them to turn it off because I thought I was going to pass out.  It wasn’t good.  They turned it off and pulled the teeth and I was outta there!

I thought everything went a lot quicker than it was going to, and really, Tyler said I was in and out in 13 mins!  Crazy.  As I left the office something was terribly wrong.  My eye was numb!  I could see out of it, but all the area around my eye was numb and then I couldn’t move it.  I would look one way and my left eye would follow but my right eye just didn’t want to move!  It had to have been the strangest thing I have ever experienced.  It took three hours to finally be able to move it.

On the bright side… I am healing great and there is still a little pain, but overall I’m doing excellent and I can see out of my eye! (Sorry, the picture doesn’t do it justice… I looked pretty stupid. )

Well, I’m just an average girl and there isn’t much to say about me. I’m just Melanie McCracken. I’m short with brown hair at this point in my life, I’m hoping to be blond again in the next couple of months. I have many nick names which are pretty great. I would tell you them, but that might take a while. I love to listen to music. Oh and I love to watch Lost.
